A lot of people ask me what After Midnight is about. When I explain it is a historical novel set in the 1830's, they automatically assume that it is a "Regency Novel." The actual Regency Era was 1811 to 1820, when the Prince of Wales ruled England for his father King George III, became King upon his death, and succeeded by King William IV who had been ambassador to the United States during the Revolutionary War. It was a period of social and political upheaval, open rebellion and a transitional period between Georgian and Victorian. I purposely chose the 1830's because it was a time of change--and Alix Sterling is all about challenging the status quo. I invite you to share your thoughts about the story and events during this European Civil upheaval.
